In September, 2019 the Roundtable on the Crown of the Continent (COC) held a conference that included participants from multiple Tribes, governments, non-governmental organizations (ENGO), conservation initiatives, land trusts, and universities. Their goal was discussing how they can take control over land use. Participants from Canada were also there, from Glacier National Park and Waterton Lakes National Park.
Areas they want control over include tourism, natural resources, habitat, and wildlife. There is also discussion about the need to protect areas for non-use, using conservation easements and designations as protected areas. This is a large area and will heavily impact both Alberta and British Columbia. The document can be read here.

Yellowstone to Yukon (Y2Y) is moving on with their onslaught of agendas, this time targeting grasslands for Bison, a "hidden wilderness". Y2Y is now claiming "Canada has roughly 25 per cent of its native grassland remaining", the rest lost to agriculture and urban sprawl, and that from 1990 to 2015, Saskatchewan alone lost more than "3.3 million acres" of native grassland. As a partner with CPAWS, they are promoting this scare tactic as well.
This is a pretty wide spread agenda and includes the same propaganda as being pushed in Montana. Called the American Prairie Reserve (APR), this outfit also wants to suck up land for the Bison to roam, pushing people off their land in doing it. The area they want to take is located in central Montana, how interesting it is just south of the Saskatchewan grasslands. This is another push for transboundary environmentalism using vegetation and wildlife to get it accomplished. Montana citizens are fighting back but clearly understand the APR threat will not go away, even with their puny compromise of acreage reduction. Sadly, APR has the money flowing in to just make direct land purchases. Both Saskatchewan and Montana citizens should monitor this agenda, start organizing to fight back, and perhaps confront what the real agenda is, transboundary land that ignores the sovereignty of two countries. In partnership with the federal government, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) just continues to grow in wealth, wealthy individuals get richer, and citizens continue to get pushed out of their land.
TNC bought Plum Creek Timber company land in 2014 and is now selling to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for Plum Creek Timber company. Money from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) is paying for that land, which will never be used again. The BLM doesn't even keep track of how much land they are buying. There are now efforts to permanently fund the LWCF. It is clear the government has become tyrannical. The American Prairie Reserve (APR) is a "collaborative" between the federal government, corporations, and non-governmental organizations (NGO) to "build a reserve" for animals by "stitching together three million acres of existing public lands using private lands...". This effort would be the largest land grab in the United States, land that can no longer be used for any purpose other than an animal wandering around. A total of 405,169 acres would be lost forever. This map shows how much land would be consumed for non-use. While APR claims this will result in "economic contributions", the truth is it will devastate the local economy, livelihoods of those who work the land, and literally force people out of the area. This West is our West interviewed a family who is already being impacted in the article, "Save the Cowboy, STOP American Prairie Reserve". The most disturbing part, who are these people and organizations who think they have the right to dictate how land is used? As pointed out by the Wall Street Journal, this project is nothing more than a piece of the Rewilding agenda by the Wildlands Network, the goal of land theft from Mexico to the Yukon. APR even has it in their head to control tourism, there goes your freedom to decide how you recreate, on your land, in your state. In their diluted reality, they even have it in their head that Bison should be allowed to take over the land for grazing. Makes sense given their hatred of cattle. In spite of the Montana legislature addressing this issue with HB0332, which passed, it was vetoed by Governor Bullock. How foolish. This is an example for all of us to heed, these same types of people are stalking land in other state for the same purpose, be aware. 7/31/18 One of the Yellowstone to Yukon (Y2Y) targets for conservation is the Flathead River Valley that crosses into British Columbia. Here is a map of the area. The Flathead Wild coalition is really nothing more than Y2Y, CPAWS, Headwaters Montana, National Parks Conservation Association, Sierra Club, and Wildsight leaders forming their own little group with a different name, a front group of the same individuals trying to give the appearance of more support, and in which they engage in some political activity.
Their aim is to create a "... critical corridor for wildlife — including grizzlies, lynx, wolverines and more...", which means land protection and no use, and were able to get their objectives in the Flathead National Forest plan which was published in December 2017. They never identified who the other "constituencies" were in their plan involvement, the group most likely was outweighed by environmentalists rather than local citizens. In the map above the green areas are already protected, they want to extend that with the orange area. From there it will just continue, a section of land at a time, using wildlife as the excuse for their connectivity agenda, until the whole area is blocked from use by us. |
